Yummy cheap hot choc...

I'm a hot choc fiend but am finding that I really do not want to pay the £3 prices of Options..

I've tried the Aldi & Asda Smartprice version but found them horrible so was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to which cheaper versions (not necessarily low calorie btw) were worth trying?

Thanks :)

Sainsury's value hot choc is rather nice, but doesn't compare with options I don't think, I tend to buy it from B&M as it's usually £1 a jar there but they haven't had any in for a few weeks and now I'm almost out, I refuse to pay £3.19 aswell, will wait while I see it on offer again.

In Sainsbury's Aero Hot Chocolate is reduced to £1.50 (288g), Cadbury Instant is £2.00 (400g) however I rather like Sainsbury own brand instant hot chocolate which is £1.25 for 350g. It is quite thick even when mixed with hot water, I sometimes top up with whole milk.

We get the Sainsburys Basics version - Fairtrade and very chocolatey. It goes further than it says on the pack too as we make it weaker and it is yummy. The kids drink it everyday.

My local pound shop often has galaxy hot chocolate in! Worth a look if you have one nearby :)
  • My daughter loves the Sainsburys fairtrade instant too. I find the price changes often, it's £1.25 at the moment but usually £1.50, I have known it to go down to £1.

sainsburys basics is pretty good but there is a tipping point where you can make it just too weak and it tastes like dishwater then, if you have a microwave you can make cocoa pretty 'instantly' and as rachbc said you really can't beat it, sadly they no longer sell it but waitrose used to do a huge tub for not much more than £2 as part of their essentials range and it was much nicer than bournville and the green and blacks stuff. I also used to make brownies with it that tasted really chocolately and gooey and yet had zero 'real' chocolate in-just the waitrose cocoa! xx
