Thanks everyone but the quote above was on another thread from bbb99. How on earth did she get that many. Unless she spends bucketloads of money in tesco!

She did say she'd have that amount after her mailing which means she may have already saved some from the last mailings. However following the advice on here you could bump your total up conciderably spending the norm.

Thanks everyone but the quote above was on another thread from bbb99. How on earth did she get that many. Unless she spends bucketloads of money in tesco!

Assuming bbb99 is saying she will have £2850 worth of deals that means she had something like 71, 250 points , so not really hundreds of thousands. I have heard of posters on another forum who recently had a hundred thousand plus but at least one of them sadly had their points removed. In the past some people got hundred thousand plus points awards by using the long dead, much lamented beef in gravy loophole

71, 250 points is still clearly a large amount but my guess is she has accumulated them over more than one quarter mainly using online shopping codes for 500 or 1000 bonus points ( which are becoming rarer and more closely targeted) but also joining all the clubs, using all the extra points vouchers that come with the mailings, using the deal of the day opportunity on the occasions that provideds extra points etc etc etc.

It can be done , a small group of people focus very hard on it, almost like a hobby or even a harmless 'obsession' :-) but Tesco are gradually tightening up and it remains to be seen how much longer it can go on . HTH
Nothing in it, nothing in it but a ribbon round it .....
  • Madhouseof4 - is there any benefit to have separate clubcard accounts, as my OH and myself amalgamated these onto one account?

  • With one account, you only get one lot of vouchers. Have more accounts, get more lots of vouchers :D .

  • You're welcome, Turnaroundsue! It's only since I found MSE and started reading up on Tesco myself that I have found out lots of useful info  . I got myself another Tesco CC in OH's name and joined all the clubs online in both our names to maximise points and vouchers. Have you joined the clubs? Healthy Living, Clothes, Wine Club and I'm sure there are more I've not mentioned...

I am pleased I did not get a lot of points - just enough to get a free book. It means I have not been lining mr Tesco's pockets!

Here's a copy of a post I made fairly recently in answer to a similar question:

Make sure you use all of the extra points offers they send you with your vouchers (don't leave them in a kitchen drawer, even for a minute....tear them out carefully and put them straight in your purse/wallet/car). Ask if any relatives or friends who have a clubcard, have any spare points coupons they won't be using. You can even buy some on ebay if desperate, they will work with your clubcard regardless of surname.

If you get a double points coupon, use it wisely....e.g. on a big shop of over £100. Dare I say it, bung in a couple of expensive items in that shop too (a coat, or a sealed xbox game)....then return them a couple of days later. You'll keep the points.... unless you have THE most horrid/jobsworth CS staff who decide to get those points taken off (happened to me but only once).

Join all the clubs asap, as Welshy says, and best to join yourself and OH/Mum separately for each one so you get extra points offers in May. You can then be an honorary member of the Tesco Obsessives Anorak Club like me and Welshy!

Womble receipts, go on, have a look in the car park you're bound to find some! Just glance at any long receipt, you are looking for a small barcode at the end (not scribbled on, this would mean someone's had the points already). Take a couple to CS a few days after the date on them (as you forgot your card last time you were there). Do this at different stores and using different clubcards or you may be 'outed' as a womble (you'll get a stroppy warning letter from HO if you overdo it)!!

Womble till-spits, look on or near the till as you are paying, someone may have left one for you! Use all the till-spits you get (and any your relatives get that they won't be using, they are not card-specific).

Finally, look out for the next lot of Health & beauty vouchers if your store gets them (maybe at the pharmacy of a big store). See the thread about these, the latest lot are about to expire but you can use them to buy FREE toiletries and pick up hundreds of points just for doing so.
