90 days consultation

Hi
My company has just informed me that my job is under a 90 day consultation period. And me and about 400+ others have been put into a 'pool' to decide who is going.
I have a couple of questions
1. Do I need to receive written notice of when the 90 days start? or is an email enough?
2.If I am chosen to be one of the 350 people that go is the 90 days my notice period? in my contract it states that they will give me 2 months notice of termination of my contract just the same as if I want to leave.
3.Is my start date the one I actually started or after the 6 month probation period?
4. They are decieding who is going by a point system - if I am one of the ones with the lowest score and I disagree can I ask what the scores are of the people above me?
Thanks inadvance

No the consulation period has nothing to do with your notice period. If after 90 days they decided to let you go, then you would then have 2 months notice (or payment in lieu of).
When you first started.
You are unlikely to get information that indentifies others directly. You could argue your own scoring but not others.
Thank you for your reply - I dont seem to be getting much information from my work place so I am a bit in the dark.
Can they give me my 2 months notice within the 90 days?0 -

Yes,
The first termination can't be for 90 days so they can give notice before the 90 days they would nees to have completed the process.
Is it union or reps that are dealing with the company, if no union they need to elect reps.0 -

Sorry for being a bit thick!
But does this me at worst they can give me my notice in a month, and then I work my notice for the other 2 months?
The only information I have had is via Email and I only saw that because I accesssed my emails from home, no union is involed but the company has a staff consultation group.0 -
When my company went through 90 days consultation - the notice period was given after the 90 days were completed.
The way I understand it - 90 days is a consultation period where the business makes a proposal and the employees (or reps) can come up with suggestions that may mitigate redundancies. It is ofcourse upto the business whether to accept those proposals or not
Once the consultation closes (it has be a minimum of 90 days if 100+ people are being affected). The reps will notify when the consultation has closed but it cannot be before 90 days.
In your case, your 2 months notice will start after 90 days0 -

Just a few additions to the above as unfortunately I am very familiar with 90 day consultation. The 90 days starts from the day of the first collective meeting (ie. after any announcement and after representatives are elected). 90 days can close earlier if mutually agreed with all representatives. You will 'collectively' be consulted about the selection criteria (like to be things like disciplinary record, absence record, etc) but it can be anything provided it is applied consistently and not discrimatory. Ask you representative for details of the criteria so you can submit your questions/comments. Also find out if your employer intend to run any form of individual consultation after or during collective consultation. The point of collective is to reach a consensus about the proposal (ie. redundancy), sometimes this isn't possible and management always have the final say but this also means you can submit alternative proposals (ie ways to avoid redundancy or mitigate its impact). You your representative wisely - or why not nominate yourself? Your representative has a duty to inform the staff they represent about progress on these meetings so may it your business to liaise with your rep to find out what is going on, otherwise the 90 days will creep up on you and you'll feel like your starting from scratch.0
