Just o pitch in that I think many famous brands can rest on their laurels. I had my first Kenwood 40 years ago and it lasted 25 years. Its replacement never felt as good, I was never completely happy with it, and when it gave up the ghost after 12 years I was almost relieved. I was lucky to have the money to replace it with a Kitchenaid that is wonderful.
A similar thing happened with my sewing machine: I still have my mother's 90 year old Singer and use it occasionally for heavy work. But when she bought me a Singer for my 21st birthday it never felt right, and I sadly got rid of it after 10 years for a wonderful Husqvarna.
I bought mine last year through John Lewis on a 'black Friday' deal - 28th November this year - quite a reduction but I had to have the ugly yellow colour as that was what was left in stock
I like the yellow ones.
Mine is boring grey/ silver ( cheaper colour way , same mixer......really, no brainer for me)
