I have just ordered a Kindle for my OH. Are all of the books posted on here completely free, or do you have to pay a subscription or something?
Sorry to sound dim, but it just seems such a good deal if you can get books for nothing.
Not all are free in fact some are more expensive than the real books and a lot of the free ones are less than 100 pages or chick lit (I am sure your hubby will not be interested in those).
Do watch as some are free only for a very short time.
Check the Amzon Top 100 free http://www.amazon.co.uk/Best-Sellers-Kindle-Store-eBooks/zgbs/digital-text/341689031/ref=zg_bs_fvp_p_f_341689031?_encoding=UTF8&tf=1
Also go to the drop down Shop by Department and select Books, then books. From here click the Advanced Search tab, where it says Format click KINDLE - click SEARCH NOW.
Scroll down to the bottom left and enter 0.00 - 0.01 in price and it will list the books (from this page you can select genre).
There are many other sites on line (including http://uk.ereaderiq.com/freebies/) where it links to Amazon books, also you can select books in PDF and save to PC then drag and drop into the Kindle connected to your PC, but not all formats come up in a good readable view on the Kindle.
If you order a book in error you can return for a refund within 7 days, go to Manage My Kindle for the option of a refund.
You can also download Kindle for PC and read the books you have bought on the PC.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
I can't remember the last time I paid for a book for my Kindle as I have a backlog of free ones that I download when free and read later (sometimes months later). I download mainly thrillers (don't do chicklit) and some Social Science books as I'm studying that subject.
I have registered for the daily email from http://www.dailyfreebooks.co.uk/ which I find quick and easy rather than trawling through Amazon as it sorts by genre.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Loved this series when it was on the tv. Am tempted by the books at this price (99p). Very good reviews.

The Mysterious Island (Classic) - 516 pages
In The Mysterious Island a group of men escape imprisonment during the American Civil War by stealing a balloon. Blown across the world, they are air-wrecked on a remote desert island. In a manner reminiscent of Robinson Crusoe, the men apply their scientific knowledge and technical skill to exploit the island's bountiful resources, eventually constructing a sophisticated society in miniature. The book is also an intriguing mystery story, for the island has a secret…Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

Lots of interesting books there - the free ones look to be mostly short stories or sample chapters, but there's lots of 'proper' books around the 50 - 60p mark.Back after a very long break!0
