I can also recommend The Hundred year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window and Disappeared. Also 20p.

I'm also halfway through this and thoroughly enjoying it. I read the first part on a long train journey to an interview and it kept me calm and relaxed. The style is slightly unusual and reminds me of the children's books written by David Walliams. I would say that it was also be enjoyed by older children pre-teen and teens too.

I got it too, also got this one which sounds interesting, although haven't had time to take a look at it properly (should be working really... if I keep slagging off and surfing the internet during working hours I'll have to sack myself, and it will be this thread's fault lol)

    (free as well)

I have to say I'm not liking it. Such a pity, the story has great potential, but the way it's told lacks pace, or depth. I'm very disappointed.

which just goes to show, you can't please all the people all of the time.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

I haven't seen anyone commenting on the book I was referring to, Tollesbury Time Forever, maybe someone else has read it?
I'm sure there will be someone out there who likes it, but as I made the recommendation I wanted to warn people that they may be disappointed. :)

Yes, you are right, I always quote the posts I'm referring to because it avoids confusion.

Another site worth mentioning is www.mobileread.com/forums it's an american forum with links to free books (as well as lots of other information), I prefer searching it through calibre, it's quicker as on the forum the links are in the text of each post.

As an example I'm now reading an old favourite of mine, The Spoon River Anthology, it's available on Gutenberg, but the layout of the one I found on mobileread.com is much better and makes it easy to read.

I've mentioned this book on here before, but it's just wonderful, and on offer again at £1.49! A great read - will probably make you a bit teary though!

    It's now free :j
Hopeless by name, hopeless by nature.
  • I did enjoy Silver Mist very much - an unusual book set in Ireland around Bloody Friday, and the main character is a young girl with Downs syndrome, very interesting and strongly recommended. Not sure if its still free on kindle.

However, I gave up on the Tollesbury Time Forever book, most unlike me, once I've read a few chapters I usually read to the end. I went and re read the Amazon 5 star reviews, tried a few more pages, not for me.

That's why the free kindle books are so great. I find I can read a page or 2, and if the writing is just awful/not well written, I delete and try another.

Everyone has different tastes of course.
