Min/Full payment - probably a stupid question

in Credit cards
Hi all,
I have a Capital One card and elected to pay the full balance off by DD every month.
My statement came out on the 13th February with payment by the 10th March. At the statement date the balance was £39.94.
I used the card some more and made a one off payment of £50 by debit card towards the end of February. The balance left on the card was then £88.23.
I expected £88.23 to come out of my account on the 10th March but nothing came out. Infact the online transactions said £0 due.
Is this because I already paid £50 when the statment balance was £39.94 ? (I didn't over pay as I used the card after the statement)
Surely this is a sneaky way for them to earn interest ? I have today paid off the balance using a debit card but surely the £88.23 would earn interest if left until the next statement ?
I hope this makes sense as I have just come off of nights! Thanks. P

No. You elected for full payment DD. You then made a manual payment of MORE than full payment.
So the DD didn't collect, as there was nothing to collect (note: some lenders will still collect on the DD, regardless). As long as you clear in full again by the next payment date, then you won't get charged interest.0 -
Okay. Makes sense - Thanks for replying so quickly.0
