Dishwasher not washing and leaving most of tablet in drawer

Options
Hello - my dishwasher is playing up - I've only just given it a Finish 'clean it up and flush it out' treatment and seemed ok after but last night it left most of a mushed up tablet in the drawer and plates still dirty..... It's a Baumatic BDW45.1 in case that means anything to anyone?

Run several cycles and while plates seem to be hot at end (so guessing it's heating up ok?) tablet still there and dirty crocks. Would it be ok to just chuck the tablet in the bottom of the dishwasher or is there anywhere else I can put it in case there's a problem with the plastic door latch? If this is the problem don't want to fork out for engineer just for a fiddly drawer dispenser....

Any suggestions gratefully received as about to start an epic handwashing of our Sunday roast dishes from yesterday...... thank you !

Could try a Finish Quantumatic? They're forever giving them away via redemption offers.

Doesn't sound to me like the DW is filling with enough water or the Tablet door is not being released at the right point through the wash (is the detergent door actually open at the end of the wash?).

Check that the rocker arms are clear, sometimes they do get blocked. Try putting the soap tablet in the cutlery basket. ( tip from repair man)

I know you've given the machine a wash cycle, have you physically cleaned all the gunk out of the filters etc and given all removable parts a wash? We've a different machine, but if the filters become too clogged up, it affects how a programme runs on our DW.

As above, clean the filters and remove the spray arms and make sure that the holes are clear and allowing water to flow. They can get blocked up with limescale etc.
Also check that the inlet hose is not kinked/blocked and allowing the machine to fill properly.

This happened to me,it seemed i was blocking the tablet release door by stacking too much stuff to close to the door.:o
No one said it was gonna be easy!
  • thank you for v helpful suggestions - tried the tip about sticking the tablet in the cutlery rack which seemed to do the trick as no residue left! Ran an empty wash and the 'tablet' compartment does open by itself so guess that's good news! Now onto my second wash so fingers crossed and still sticking my tablet in cutlery rack! Cheers for that idea chris ntj!

The repiar man gave me that tip when he repared my DW. I never use the tablet drawer now.

I hope you have solved your problem and your dishes are now coming out clean. xx

This happened to my Baumatic 45.1. took the top spray arm off and found a load of gunk in it. Flushed it through, cleaned the spray holes with an old dental floss brush and all fine now.
But thanks for the tablet in the cutlery rack!
