Spoke to the solicitor and apparently the EA IS getting involved- a Sales Progressor will negotiate with the vendor to pay the SD.:cool:0

Sales Progressor I believe.
The "sales progressor" is just a member of staff in the office. They are also a sales negotiator who will deal with any customers coming into the office.
If the vendor says they will pay the stamp duty, the agent will send a standard letter to the solicitor BUT they (solicitors) will still require confirmation from the seller and buyer that this is happening. How many times do you think they sales chase on the same property?
I used the same agency 4 times in fifteen years. Both sold and bought 3 times through them. Excellent service. Having somebody in the middle keeping everybody informed was worth the extra .25% or so fee.
Likewise the solicitor.0
