Prudential Insurance

I recently received my home insurance renewal notification from the Prudential - £367.00:eek:!
Last year I paid just over £240.00 and have had no claims for 5 years so I rang them up and asked if this could reduced - and they offered me the same policy for £270.00 - which I declined.
Yes - I know I can get home and contents insurance cheaper, but this policy suits me and when I have had claims, the Pru were excellent.
So - I went online and searched for a similar policy and despite some great offers available, I opted for an identical policy for £201.00 with .......................The Prudential!

In my experience, this happens with the lot of them.
Did you remember to go via a cashback site for your new policy?0 -
I had exactly the same with my car insurance and Sheila's Wheels last year.
I even called them back to say that I had been quoted less online and they said that it happens often.
They cancelled my renewal and told me to buy it online instead.0 -
Whenever this happens to me (mostly home insurance) I always go somewhere else. When I then ring up the original company to stop the renewal they invariably suddenly are able to give me a discount (loyal customer, no claims discount etc). I get great pleasure in informing them they should have thought about that before they tried to rip me off. The likes of Direct Line seem to be the worst at this and will never get any business from me again.0

It was an awful experience with Direct Line that made me appreciate the service I received from the Prudential.
You would think however, that when renewals are due they would make some effort to retain their customers rather than make them look elsewhere.
It is worth pointing out however, that the cheapest insurance is not always the best.0 -

Im guessing but most people would just renew without checking, they are a business not out to make friends0
