First Direct Switching Service???

I've just switched to First Direct, literally. I now wish to transfer my direct debits and standing orders fom my old account to this one, and have my wages paid into it.
I get paid on the 28th of each month, my direct debits go out throughout the month so, how does the switching service work?

I got a welcome pack the day after opening my account, and a couple of forms to transfer direct debits and wages.0

Did the confirmation that they are going to switch on a certain date say £0.00 for each of the direct debits? This has confused me.0
