I gather the cheap call providers have lowered their standards.

Anyone any evidence of that?

What do you mean by "lowering their standards" ???
As far as I'm concerned (I use 18185)the quality of the connection has not changed and I haven't had any problems in the last couple of months getting thru' using the 18185 prefix.Plus the billing has worked; they have taken the correct amount on the date I expected.

Ditto, been using 18185 for years and never had a problem with them.

    With pleasure aerostar!

I didn't post any reference originally as I thought it better to be neutral and ask the bland question whether anyone had problems. My own experience has always been good but not all find that:-

  • You've probably hit on the problem with review websites.

If you're a satisfied customer, chances are you won't post a review. if you're disgruntled, you want somewhere to express your frustration, and these websites offer that. So IMO they will always tend to skew towards the negative.

FWIW I've been using 18185 for years now, and 1899 before that. and it must have saved me hundreds if not thousands of £ (my family is pretty far-flung). The quality of the connection and the occasional drop-out is a small price to pay for the huge saving in cost. It certainly hasn't deteriorated in the recent past.

31 reviews since 2008, with varying star ratings, I do not call that a representative sample or grounds for saying "lowered standard"

I can't use nay of the three (all the same company actually).
lost card meant bills not paid . The paid by transfer from bank with account number but no un-block.
So can't use for want of bills of £1 or 2.
Since I paid them £5, they have stolen.
