first time buyer appointment with countrywide mortgage advisor

Hi im new to this forum, but my partner recently saw a mortgage advisor who is based within an estate agents but is employed by countrywide. I could not attend the appointment.

She had a first time buyer sales pitch. During the process the mortgage advisor asked personal details relating to her income, and also asked for her bank details which she gave him!

Now then this was only a free advice session, she has not committed to anything, she only wanted advice, yet this chap now has her bank details on file.

My question is how do we go about asking them to remove these details? as we are not comfortable with this. Yes she gave consent and offered the details without properly thinking it through.
obviously i am alarmed about this, but i am not sure how to approach it other than ask for the details to be removed, as we only wanted advice and have not decided on a course of action with anybody at present.

Has anybody else experienced this and how do we go about resolving the matter?

    Hi there,

Firstly, remain calm; Countrywide Mortgage Advisors are many things (search countrywide mortgage in this forum) but fraudulent is not one of them.

I have no idea why they would ask this at a general advice stage though..

Phone up, tell them and they will destroy I am sure.

Although conversely and unfairly, when a prime first time buyer house comes up you will not be the first client they call!!

I was working at Countrywide up until May last year so know there systems inside out.
The Bank details is a standard question on their fact finds as some lenders require it to do Agreement in Principals so they ask everyone in a first appointment, it is then pulled through to process so when you are ready to sign up they already have the bank details for the direct debit.
I am confident in saying they wont do anything they shouldnt with it, but if you are really uncomfortable with the idea of them having it they can just go into the system and replace all the digits with 9s
