Regarding HSBC, I had a loan that was over 9 years ago and from what i read HSBC only ever give the standard 6 years worth of data. However, I've just read this article:
http://www.channel4.com/news/articles/business_money/the+trouble+with+claiming+back+bank+charges/3416007.html
It says that a Peter Smith took Barclaycard to court to prove that they did have details going further back that 6 years but stored on microfiche.
How could i do this to HSBC please?
Im very keen to!Not yet a total moneysaving expert...but im trying!!0 -

Send the SAR letter exactly as on the template at the link I provided. Notice it asks for ALL information they have on file for your account?0 -

If they do not give you all they hold, they are in breach of the data protection act. Howeveryou need to be as helpful about what type of information they hold eg loan, credit card, etc etc. but your claim in, if you do believe they have withheld anything, then you need to complain to the ico...information commissioners office who regulates the data protection act.0
