Weed Membrane for Play Area

I wonder if you can help, I am looking for the cheapest place to buy a Weed Membrane.

We have recently purchased a house and have a section of the garden approximately 7 metres square that is just earth. We plan to put down a weed membrane and then cover with bark chippings.

I would be most grateful if anyone knows the cheapest place to buy the membrane, and also the bark chippings if anyone knows?

you can grab 1.5meters by 5 meter long strips from Lidl for £2 if you have one close by, might all be gone by now though.

But remember, cheapest isnt always best, especialy with weed membrane, if your expecting it to last a fair while it might be worth spending a bit more on a better cross-thatched membrane that the professionals use.

We bought ours from a large building depot, think it was Travis Perkins. Worked out a lot cheaper buying one big roll than a few smaller ones from a garden centre!

Don't buy weed suppressant membrane. It's rubbish! In an area where people are regularly jumping on it, you need the industrial stuff.

I use this because suppressant membrane just tears under heavy use or weeds like couch just punch through it.

I believe it's called landscaping fabric. We use it on the railway. 50m of the 3m wide stuff cost about £80. It's worth spending the rest if you're getting play bark
