Contacted a claims firm last July over missold PPI,they took my case on,my bank then got in touch with me direct and have offered a settlement which i didnt expect and have decided to accept, the claims firm have since requested authority from me to contact the bank to carry on with my case after a few months when i thought they'd forgotten about it.Should i leave things as they are or contact the claims firm to cancel the case and leave it to the bank?

Hi
Well done on your success.
Are the claims company aware that the bank have already made contact with you?
If not make it clear to them, and as you've had success do you know how much the claims company are requesting from you?
The thing is, using a claims company if successful then they normally receive so much of the refund, if you signed up with them, I am not sure if you can cancel, is that what you mean?
Sorry if I've misread, but maybe some others on here have used claims companies and will know more how this works.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

By "took on the case" I assume you mean you signed a contract and the firm took the complaint onto the bank/FOS on your behalf?
If so then you're legally bound to pay them their fee weather the bank communicate with you or them.
These PPI claim companies basically do exactly what the person who does the complaint on their own do. (because that's how the compliant is made they have no more clout nor authority than the person who does it themself) That is to complain in writing to the bank and refer it to the FOS if unsuccessful, there's very little work involved which makes the rather large success fees seem disproportionally expensive for the amount of work done on your behalf.
Yet you contacted and employed a claims company to make the complaint for you and now seem to want to cancel the agreement after it's success.
The claims company is unlikely to allow that to happen, especially if they've upheld their side of the contract.
I'm sure thus isn't what you wanted to hear, but it is the likelyhood.:www: Progress Report :www:
