I put Amtico in our new bathroom (we thought tiles would be too cold on our feet and we weren't convinced that underfloor heating never breaks down so didn't choose that route). It is the most expensive kind of laminate tiles and you should go with a specialist fitter. John Lewis did ours (quotes from local flooring shops were a lot more expensive). We think it is fantastic and we don't slip on it, only had it a few months so I can't comment on the long term wear but it is suppossed to be very good. Go to your local John Lewis and look at samples. It really does look like tiles because they put different coloured grout strips in between the tiles, so you get the indentation you would get with real grout too.
I have tiles in the kitchen they have been down 2 years and they are brilliant we bought extra just in case one gets chipped over the years but so far they havnt but we did buy good quality tiles
we have laminate flooring in our living room but had an accident last year with the fish tank but it was fine(we did get a water resistent one though)
