I got a parking ticket on a Saturday in a zone which is signed as Mon-Fri!

Options
The council made a mistake and put the wrong sign up. I have contested it in two letters and one email, yet they are still making me appeal through the adjudicator. The officer placing the ticket even said it was a sign belonging to the other council and that it shouldn't be there. He continued to give tickets to others!

Can somebody please confirm that beyond this sign (as in, entering the zone and parking there), it is only controlled between Mon-Fri during the hours of 12noon and 2.00pm. I've been made to feel completely thick in the responses I have received from the council.

The cheek! I have spent a fortune in printer ink, paper, postage and time! I'm appearing in person at the meeting because I'm thinking that my letters may not be clear and I know 100% I am not in the wrong. I also want to ask them clear-cut how I will go about claiming costs for postage, printing and my time (I've spent hours writing letters and taking photos (I take a long time to write!))

Just to make clear, the red box near the van is where my car was parked.

The red text says 'Sign clearly states that the zone beign entered is controlled during Monday to Friday. Therefore a PCN on Saturday is impossible.

That is the image I am to send to the appeal. I have also sent the original PCN that details the lamppost I was parked opposite (it's the one that the red text is covering). I just have to get a photo of the number on the lamppost (it is there! but it's too dark now, and a van is in the way) (I've not sent the official appeal to the independent adjudicator yet)

Was there another sign on the other side of the road?

The sign on the other side of the road is misaligned, and states exactly the same on both sides.

Good idea, I'll print that image off and send it too!

Text says: 'This is the sign on the opposite side of the road. It is misaligned, and displays the same incorrect zone information on BOTH sides'.

I am also printing off a photo of the OTHER SIDE of this same sign.

Pepipoo.com is the place for you, seems a certain winner, thoughits unlikely the council will give in easily. When you win go to the papers about this.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Was a single yellow line.

Might go see the news shopper at the end. Try and recover some of my printing costs! 4 full page colour prints and lots of letters and copies of letters received etc.

You do need to show pepipoo the other side of the PCN (small print, yeah, all of it). And the letters and NTO they will have already sent you.

Keep your pepipoo thread updated with pics and more info. You may need their help to word your adjudication appeal - and they need to see more of your paperwork than shown so far.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If the Council issued a ticket on a day when the signs say restrictions don't apply, and refuse to withdraw it, then I would include in (or add to) your appeal submission to the adjudicator that the Council have behaved unreasonably and you apply for your costs before and at the hearing. Costs are not awarded as a matter of course but they should be if the behaviour of one party is unreasonable- and this plainly is, as you tell it!
