Halifax procrastinating on payout - what to do ?

I had a confirmation back in November that Hallfax were going to payout for miss-selling on a Loan PPI i'd had.
After numerous calls, I recently found out the cheque was finally raised February 8th.
Problem is, over 1 month later, i've not received it. I've called the PPI Claims line a couple of times, and plan to call again tomorrow, to find out whats going on. But am expecting the same fobbing off as before "its been escalated", "no time scales" etc.
If they do decide to re-issue the cheque, i'm concerned it'll take them another 3 months to do that, which'll mean i'll be lucky to receive the money on the 1 year anniversary of my original complaint.
I'm getting really annoyed, as its not a trivial sum either, around 4000. Are there any other phone numbers I can call to complain (eg a general complaints team at Halifax/HBOS/Lloyds), or any other courses of action I can take ?
I'll be honest though, i don't understand why they can't transfer the money to my Halifax current account, instead of messing around with issueing and sending cheques.

Contact your local MP, ask them to act on your behalf - write to them (explain the situation to them), they should be able to do this for you, it may help.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

In another thread ( albeit about a different loan provider), poster GRINGO2000 had this to say about a similar situation:BullfrogXP wrote: »I'm getting really annoyed, as its not a trivial sum either, around 4000. I'm sure Gringo would be open to requests for help with such a letter if you need it.GRINGO2000 wrote: »Guess what guys - my firm but fair and forceful letters and emails threatening court action against Lloyds TSB if I hadn't recieved my payment worked! A nice juicy cheque arrived on my doorstep today - with FULL payment!
Just 2 days after I sent my "final warning" to Andrea Barry by email, plus a written warning to their dedicated PPI postal address and Newport address.
This highlights that, they've paid up because they knew I was serious - and they knew they would have lost their case too!
So, this just proves that, when you play them at their own game, you win the fight and you'll be paid.
If anyone needs any help, or indeed wants to use copies of the letter that I used to be paid, then by all means, i'm willing to help.
Just remember though, if you threaten court action, you MUST be willing to follow your threat through if they fail to pay by the deadline that you set - so make sure you can afford the court fee upfront if you decide to go down that route (your fee is paid back if you win your case - so you don't actually lose the fee in the long term).
Good luck guys!0 -
Hi Matt - you are not alone! See my posts over the last couple of months...& those from MSE members on the same thread.
Ive been a loyal Halifax customer for 20+ years and the way they are treating their customers is a disgrace!
As soon as cheque arrives I will be moving all my families HX accts.
