Am i right in thinking that its the drivers responsibility not the owner of the vehicle?
My wife parked in a car park and didn't read the signs properly so thought she didn't have to pay and display because of the time of day but it appears that she did have to, however i hate parking fine companies with a passion and so now i as the owner (incorrect as the car is a leased vehicle) has been sent a parking charge notice by ParkingEye. I'm tempted to just ignore it but what would advice be here. Ignore/Pay/Other
Bloody £60 if paid in 14 days then rising to £90 then if ignored they will add admin fee of £30 making it £120. Ridiculous for parking for 15 minutes. Yes i know she should have read the signs properly.

Ignore it. If you already have responded, buy a hamster and a shredder, and use all the paperwork they sent as free bedding.
They have no power to enforce an invitation to pay for a free car park, and will go away eventually.

If it's a leased car, you must make absolutely sure that the lease compnay doesn't pay this and then pass it on to you (with a hefty "admin fee"). You must contact them and make it absolutely clear that this is not to be paid when one of the letters lands on their desk. Check your lease conditions - it probably refers to fines and penalties, but this is neither. Trouble is, the lease companies tend not to understand (or deliberately fail to understand, as the admin fees are a nice little earner).0

There is no liability to the lease company, they should know this as bvrla their trade body has told them. What they should do is give the name and address of the person leasing the vehicle and that is it, 50p for a stamp and envelope .
The reality is that these lease companies make money out of it with illegal grossly exaggerated admin costs, and they pay the scammers. You should write to the lease company and tell them not to pay, and you do not accept an admin charge for dealing with speculative unenforceable invoices, inform them that you will issue proceedings against them if they deduct any money from your card, and you will not reimburse them if they pay. Send it recorded.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Thank you all for your speedy replies. I will ignore them thanks. By the way CKhalvashi just so you know the car park isn't a Free car park it is a pay and display but i think i know what you mean and The Slithy Tove and taffy056 i will check with the lease company but not sure they have given details to the car park management company and they certainly haven't asked for any fee admin or otherwise yet but i will check with them all the same
Thank you again people0 -
Have you already been sent letters in the post from Parking Eye? If so, then (somehow) they have got your name and address, bearing in mind that the car will probably be registered to the lease company.
If that's the case, they you're in the clear as far as being stung by the lease company is concerned. All you need to do now is ignore everything sent to you.0 -
You sound like a suitable case for retaliatory action. Do not use the letters as hamster bedding, they are worth money in an action for harassment. You could inform PE that you were NOT driving but are not prepared to say who was and then wait for them to dig their own grave... interested?0
