My deleted apps keep returning when forced to update (apple)

Hi, I have an iPad and have downloaded loads of apps either to try or for bonus points (do I really need a gay dating app, a straight dating app, and a uniform dating app when I don't even want a dating app!). I delete from my iPad and when given the option select to completely remove, I have also deleted the app from iTunes on my computer. Yet when a new update for that deleted app is released it shows up on my update list with no way to delete it, so I have to download the update which brings back the app and I'm back to square one!
Is there a way out of this loop I'm in? Thank you

well that shouldn't be happening, I guess you can try removing the apps from your 'Purchased' list in the iTunes store (under the quick links section on the right hand side)0
