Rant re: Virgin Media

Not sure if this is in the right place but it is only a general rant so thought this was the most appropriate board - however feel free to move if that's not the case

Warning-this will be long

Ok, I've been a Telewest Broadband customer for almost 4 yrs, paying at the moment £18pm. Saw the new 3 for £30 Broadband/TV/Mobile deal which I thought was cracking especially as I have no Sky package (had it switched off so just free to air channels) so more channels right?! I put £15pm on my PAYG Virgin phone so essentially I'd be saving £3pm AND getting the TV for nowt. :T So I subscribed online. Got an Email back confirming that the Engineer would be out on 22/02 (yesterday) I'd been so excited and I thought for once I'm getting something back, and saving money, yeah!

Well, he turns up yesterday with a landline to install, was quite rude when I explained I wasn't having the landline in just the mobile phone and TV - he talked to me like I was stupid and huffed and puffed about looking for the phone cable (!!!!!!?) er hello el thicko I don't WANT the landline (I didn't say that - just thought it :D ) Anyway, to cut a long story short he only installed the TV, but I knew there'd been a c*ck up somewhere so as soon as he left I was on the phone to Virgin, which cost me a fortune seeing as I only have a mobile and they obviously get some amusement at keeping you on hold for 13 minutes :mad:

Eventually spoke to a nice lady and explained everything, she confirmed the landline wasn't installed (did she not believe me?) and that I would get the 2 for £20 offer (BB and TV) and she would put me through to Virgin Mobile to sort out a SIM for £10pm - I was mega confused by this time, especially as I was raging inside so couldn't think straight/trying to cook a dinner/trying to find a place in the house with good reception/7 yr old at my feet. So, spoke to them she then asks didn't I know the Mobile section was seperate from Virgin Media and would have to have a credit check - er no as the website doesn't give you any details about anything and I'd had no letter/contract or anything from them - so I knew I'd fail the credit check and she confirmed it - my blood was boiling by this time and said but I'd signed up for the 3 for £30 so why can't I have it - got a load of waffle so said ta-ra.

Now, in my book that is being mis-sold something, I presumed that them having a nice blue box with 3 for £30 in it was a complete package, not a seperate thing for the mobile, they'd given me no information, installed the TV and obviously just thought 'oh giver her the landline' . I found the *subject to credit check thing but thought that was only for new customers (stupidly) I'd been with them for nearly 4 yrs never missed a DD payment or nothing, I felt like thay'd kicked me in the teeth, oh and to top it all, they'd given me a used remote control that was bashed to bits - Thank you very much :mad:

So, gonna phone them up now, tried half an hour ago and after going through 3 different automated thingies was told it was closed! :rolleyes: and I'm getting the whole lot taken out, DD#1 has already given me a free 02 SIM card with free texts, the internets going and they can come and take that horrible black box back out - and I'm going back to Sky
