Virgin Holidays

Anyone had any experience with them? I really want to go to Borneo with them but i dont know if they can be bargained down or do you HAVE to pay the fixed price on the website? They are quite expensive but the holidays look amazing!

All help appreciated!
Thanks

  • We've travelled with them a few times, can highly recommend them. Don't know about getting a discount though, wouldn't have thought so, because their internet prices usually contain a discount.

Can I recommend you call a couple of companies. The problem with brochures is that you set the prices so far ahead (upto 18 months ahead) you can't predict special offers or the like that will come along in the meantime. Use the brochure to see what you like. Then call Trailfinders. And try Malaysia Experience as well. Might well be cheaper.

Have used Virgin holidays loads of time (even used Virgin Sun when the did MED holidays. As a general rule you WONT get a "discount" on the brouchure price but they very often have promotions running for £xxx off if booked now etc.

We have had a couple of minor problems but a couple of carefully worded emails sorted these out (even got them to pay for Express Plus tickets for the family at New Year)

We're members of the Virgin Holidays Frequent Virgin Club which give you a 10% discount on Virgin Holidays booked direct in addition to any promotions they are running. Dont know about them running a frequent flyer points system but I think Virgin Atlantic might

I am going to Borneo with virgin holidays tomorrow - I'll let you know what it was like. Can't wait to see the orang utans.
I used my tesco vouchers so only had to pay for my other half to come along - I am going for free.

My experience is that they are very expensive compared with a 'do it yourself holiday' even using Virgin flights. The quote I had for a holiday to California was £7300, that was even with a 10% military discount. Putting together the package myself I saved over £2000, I am happy to do that going to the US but would perhaps have reservations going to the Far East and DIYing. suppose the lesson here is to shop around. Virgin have a great name but they are not necessarily the cheapest. Have you tired Kuoni? or even Expedia to put your holiday package together. The choice of flights heading to the Far East is enormous.

Your going to Borneo to see some monkeys - why not stay at home and go to London and visit the House of Commons for free!
