Whats the best fake tan

Glowgirl...what routine do you do? Do you apply it in the bathroom and does it stain the sheets or do you shower before bed? And do you apply it to certain areas first? Sorry for all the questions! I intend on applying fake tan before my holiday as i am so white (lol).Do you think i will need to apply more whilst away? As its for 10 days.
I'll try to be brief:o I never or rarely moisturise as this strips my tan and also forms a barrier if I do I use an oil free cream and I have found a tanning product that doesn't dry my skin too much. I apply in the bathroom, I transfer the product to a spray bottle and use a mitt/roller and gloves, I do not apply to my face. I do it in this order, feet, legs, arms (including underarms), front torso, bum and as far up my back as I can get then my back with an applicator or roller, it takes me about 10 mins max but I have been doing this for years. I usually do this in the evening and I use a product with a colour guide so the next morning its all over my sheets but it washes straight out, a light shower will remove the colour guide, try not to use harsh products and don't stay in the water too long, if you remove the colour guide the tan wont rub off on your clothes if you don't it will, this is with the product I use anyway. You can of course buy tan with no colour guide.
Its hard to say if you will need to apply more while you are away, its really important you get the right product for your skin tone, for example dd is yellow toned and can not use the same product as me (pink toned) as generally fake tan shows more on yellow tones so she looks silly in my super strong one that just looks normal on me. Also it depends on if you will be in the natural sun, please use a super high protection, this is better for skin and the tan you do get will last longer and look better, I would take some fake tan with me just in case, you wouldn't want to feel pale on holiday, just a word of warning in general fake tan and spf products don't mix very well especially the apply once products(like P20), it can make you streaky and swimming pool water and the sea will strip your colour.:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
Glowgirl...thank you so much for your detailed reply! Its been really helpful, but i was wondering if i will be able to use the fake tan now that you have said that spf can make it streaky.I have to wear a factor 50 on my face and 35 on my body as my skin is so fair with pink tones, and if the sun gets to it i burn and come out in dark pigmentation patches. I may have to stay pale but interesting lol. x
Edited to ask: does a colour guide mean a product that has colour to it so you can see where it has been applied on the skin?0 -

Yes a colour guide is exactly that, the real colour develops underneath, I think the spf cream will be fine, I remember last year I used a 50 Avene one and a Clarins oil and both were ok, the oil did strip a bit but nothing I couldn't sort out, its the once only ones that seem to have some kind of product in them that reacts with the dimethicone (active tanning ingredient) and it goes green and patchy:eek: Not sure if its any help but dd does pale and interesting but when she wants to take away the glare she uses a spray on wash on/off product from Boots 17 that is waterproof and very light in colour, I'm darker and use it too for a boost, its a great product.Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
Sorry to sound dumb, but what is a 'once only one'? Ive got some Dove summer glow as a starter, that i might start using tomorrow.0

The sunscreen your supposed to put on just once and they last all day without the need to reapply, an example would be P20 I think this was one of the original ones and now other brands have brought out similar, just try using normal sunscreen over your fake tan and you should be fine especially if you avoid oil based ones:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
I already use the dove exfoliating body cream, but could you recommend any others please? Moisturisers too. Preferably that i can buy online as i live out in the sticks.0

I don't use many products on my body, I exfoliate with gloves and use a professional spray tan solution in the way I have described above that can only be bought online as far as I'm aware and especially for the price I am prepared to pay;):money:when my skin is really dry, which is rare now, I use Aveno (sp) oatmeal body moisturiser as it doesn't strip my colour and dd uses it anyway:). Another product thats doesn't strip my tan, and does moisturise is Clean on me shower cream, I love that stuff:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0
