Has anyone had any problems applying for credit if you live on base accomodation and this is registered as your home address/electoral roll registered address?

The reason I ask is that my boyfriend is currently trying to get a mortgage and serves in the RN.

His credit history, incomings and outgoings are fine, and we've been told this by his bank. But the shortfall seems to be his address history.

He's based at Faslane, and used to get his mail sent c/o the mail office. But seen as he never got his mail, we arranged that the bank would send mail c/o myself.

It's been quite annoying at this is the only thing that is stopping us from getting a decent mortgage. He's been offered one from HBoS but it's not what we need.

Any help you can offer us, we'd be very grateful!

Yes, altho it didnt have a huge effect on us getting a mortgage. My hubby hasnt been on the electrol register for years and we have just secured a mortgage through halifax, it maybe worth having a search for companies who deal with the forces. Altho we just used a normal ifa and he had a few issues with proving hubbys id but he did get around it.
Credit card had no dramas with altho the bank did ask for loads of details when we got an overdraft but once we gave them all our different address' they were fine!
Getting a contract phone seems to be the hardest thing to get without being registered.
Have you checked out his credit rating/history to make sure its defo just down to him not being registered?
