How to get audio files from my computer onto a memory card in my phone

I've got Windows Media Audio Files on my computer which I'd like to play on my (basic) mobile phone. It has a 2GB memory card in it. There's a folder called "mp3" on the drive for the memory card which I can see when I plug the phone into my computer. I think this is where the files should go.
I can copy and paste the wma files into the mp3 folder and they show up OK. But I don't think this is right - there seems to be no option to play them after I have done this. My suspicion is that I have to convert them to mp3 files. So I googled how to do this and downloaded a converter (http://lp.koyotesoft.com/?sysid=410&appid=101&cid=21117906813)
But the converter just displays the message "WMA Support is off" next to each file that I try to get it to convert with a "No Entry" sign. I've no idea how to turn WMA support on.
I also have WinAmp on my computer which I thought might help me but it only displays the main memory in the phone not the memory card, and that's much too small. The phone itself didn't come with any software.
Grateful for any help as to how to get this to work.

T-Mobile Zest 2. Or at least that's what's on the user manual that came with it. It doesn't say "Zest 2" on the phone.0 -
Hi
If you do decide to use WinFF...
this is the place to download it from --->http://winff.org/html_new/
Downloaded it and ran it with "Convert to" set to Audio and "Preset" set to mp3. The phone now recognises the files as audio files (they have a music note next to them) but it just says "Bad Format" when I try to play them.0 -
That's correct.:)
Try downloading a sample mp3 file from here --> http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/A-codecs/MP3/
That works fine. The files that winff creates are tiny, only about 1kb and won't play on my computer either. A whole load of errors appear in the window that pops up when I convert files with winff too.0 -
That's good, it shows your phone's OK . :j
And you're transferring the files onto the phone properly.:)
Sometimes those wma files are locked so that they can only be played on Windows computers.
I've been transferring them just by copy and paste and also using the destination folder in winff. Maybe I just have to rip the files again.0 -
Yes rip them in mp3 format0
