Looking for advice as to how much to keep in emergemcy savings based on these figures,k
Joint income 57k
Mortgage 156k
2 children o
No other credit commitments
Current household running costs take about 2k, the rest is savings/discretionary spending
The reason I'm asking is we moved house in Dec and I want a sizeable emergency pot before we start home improvements. We have 8k in cash accounts at present!
Thanks

How much is enough?
Just ensure your £8k is somewhere nice, with instant access if you need it. £8k would be about £28 per month interest at 3.3% Santander ISA.

You should have a Min of 6 months spending (incl everything you need to live ie not just HH costs but food, petrol etc)0
