PPI Advice Please

Hello

Hoping you can help. I have decided to have a look into reclaiming PPI... initially because I had a mortgage previously which was costing a bomb and I think PPI was on there.

I did an Equifax credit report to obtain details of the companies I had mortgages/loans/credit cards with and... well it's quite a list of companies - I did keep changing credit card to the 0% APR.

The problem I have though is that on the Equifax report, it doesn't actually list the account numbers. To add to the issues I have moved house 4 times in the last 6 years.

So, what is the easiest way to find out all my account numbers etc, as I presume it would be easier to claim once I have those details?

Thank you for any advice :T

    Hi there

I would give the mortgage lender a ring, they may ask you a few personal details because of security reasons, but should provide you with the details you require.

Maybe then Dunstonh/MagpieCottage can advise on the reclaiming side of it, good luck.

I think it unlikely that you have a case.

If you had PPI on the mortgage it will almost certainly have been a monthly premium policy and there was a clear need for it - if you lost your income you could all too easily lose your home as well.

It is also quite possible that the policy was taken out through a mortgage broker and it would be them, not the lender, that you would need to pursue.

    thanks both for the replies!

I did think that might have been the case for the mortgage to be honest... but I will give them a call regardless and see what they say.

How do I best proceed with the various credit cards I've had over the years but no longer have the details for?

    thanks again

What makes you think they supplied the MPPI? You are not even sure you had MPPI. So, what would your complaint actually be seeing as having MPPI is not a reason for complaint?

Its not impossible as there have been mis-sold cases. However, statistically, the cases are fewer than loan/credit card and many of the reasons that result in redress for loan/credit card do not apply to MPPI.

Even the FSA recognised that MPPI had lower levels of mis-sale in their review.

Why was your parents complaint upheld? That may be helpful to know. Or perhaps as it was just £2000 it fell below their floor limit and they auto-paid out and your parents got lucky.
