Hi sounds like your having a similar venue to our as we have a hall that needs dressing up. when i first enquired about having it kitted out profesionally was quoted over £2000! so me, OH and wedding party doing it oursleves! our wedding may 26th and we all sorted on deco front now :-) i also want the fairy lights as we have beautiful high wooden beams and i really want blue lights but the problem was getting around all extension leads, wall sockets etc and battery operated ones were too short but i found solar powered ones on ebay, £9 for 11m, Il have to buy 5 but il sell them on afterwards, car boot! but if you dont have a particular colour in mind then it will obv be cheaper to borrow, hope helps0

we are have also bought fabric to create drapes and hang across large back wall just to add a more wedding feel lol. what else......... oooh we got a diy ballon arch £7 e-bay as we have a stage, we are having chair covers which really transform a room, u can buy organza rolls (ebay) to decorate your top table, pearlescent balloons (large packs are cheap on ebay) for cake table, xmas lights for cake table also! and i have little decorative bits just to add to the atmosphere. look for wedding deco on ebay and u will get lots with out spending alot. and yes i LOVE ebay loool0

Be careful about using your own fairy lights - our venue required safety certificates for electricals.Bunting is a good idea you could even make this a hen do activity.
Or I've seen something online where every guest was asked to make a single bunting flag & return it with their RSVP!
Also remember that when empty, a room may look bare, but once it's full of wedding guests it'll instantly be more "weddingy".
I must admit I rarely notice what's in the room at weddings, as I'm distracted by WHO's in the room.0 -
Have you thought about making tissue paper pom poms?
Being made from paper, they are great value, easy to make and you can make them in any colour. They look fab in lots of different sizes and colours, hung from the ceiling etc. If you google 'tissue paper pom poms' you should be able to find a lot of tutorials. I think Martha Stewart has the most famous one, but there are a lot of bloggers about with instructions - as a new user, I'm not allowed to include links but I would link some for you if I could.
If you're looking for other wedding craft on a budget, I also have a blog, with a Pound Shop Challenge (google Moll and Mostin if you want to see) making different wedding craft just from things from the Pound Shop, so you can definitely make your venue look beautiful! Good luck and congratulations x0 -
Have a look at some wedding blogs like Rock n Roll Bride or Whimsical Wonderland Weddings for budget or DIY weddings for inspiration?
It's tricky to recommend what you should do without knowing what sort of style you like.
I think it is a really good idea to borrow fairy lights from friends and family, otherwise you're going to end up with heaps of fairy lights after the wedding.
I defo agree with this! Also check out greenweddingshoes and theweddingchicks - the latter has LOTS of cheap DIY ideas and free pirntable templates! Really quirky and chic.
