ok. someone on here always gives me the most/best information on train travel.

on 18th and probably 19th of june. going from arundel to regents park. leaving arundel at around half 6am. need to be at the central london court no later than 9.45am. 2 adults, and i will have a disabled persons railcard. think there isnt a time restriction on that?? we shall be coming back the same day, about 5pm onwards.

cheapest way please. what ive seen on national rail.com its going to cost around £70 plus, each day. for both of us.

maybe a change of plan: what would a saver return cost if we were to stay over and come back on the late-afternoon of the 19th june.

There is no time restriction on a disabled railcard so you will get cheap fares for yourself and your companion whenever you travel

There's no saver return on this route unless you travel off peak

Ther is one way of cheaper tickets - you'll pay the normal discounted disabled price outward but should be able to get an advance single ticket for the homeward journey as long as it's off peak (before 4pm or after 7pm) - as low as £6.60 total for the two of you. You get these tickets from Southern Railways site - but they are not yet on sale for your dates, not for another week or so.

There are some great experts here, but they can more easily be found 'elsewhere' and don't post here much ;)

£35.05 is the price for an Anytime Day Travelcard (ADT) allows one journey from Arundel to the boundary, unlimited travel within the London Travelcard Zones 1-6, then one journey from the boundary to Arundel.

If you can travel a bit later, £19.85 is the price of an Off Peak One Day Travelcard (ODT), as above but valid by any train scheduled to arrive at London Terminals (or Kensington Olympia) at or after 0950.

    cheapest way please.
There are no route-specific alternative fares.

Yes, that is correct. £35.05 each.

The old Saver Return (SVR) is now called Off Peak Return. Under BR these tickets were unrestricted outside the London area, but were always restricted for journeys to London and journeys via London (with certain exceptions for long-distance flows).

The Off Peak Return (SVR) from Arundel to London Terminals costs £20.45 each, but has the following restriction: Valid on any train scheduled to depart at or after 0930.

If you wish to depart before 0930, then you will need to purchase 2 x single tickets, at £17.80 each way, per person, totalling £71.20 for both of you.

Also, with London Terminals tickets, you'd need to pay more for your journeys on LU.

(And if you think that's expensive, imagine the cost without a Railcard!)

As dzug1 says, you can reduce the prices with Advance tickets, when they become available, but they will not be available at 'peak' or busy times.
