    FreeRip will do this:

Think you can do it within Windows Media Player as well. Make sure to set to mp3 format. Go to Tools, Options, Rip Music, and select mp3 in the Format box. HTH

    Hi lyns

To convert the CD tracks into mp3 files you need to use a "CD ripper" program.

You can use FreeRip as cwoodham has suggested above.

Or you could use CDex which can be downloaded free from here:- http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=567

Yup, Windows Media Player (if it's a more recent version) or iTunes will do it, no problem.

I can give you more detailed instructions on how to do it in WMP if you like...

I use FreeRip as well, you can do it with lots of apps, winamp is also good. The advantage of FreeRip is that it is a dedicated ripper so it is nice and simple. It's extremely easy to rip CDs to MP3 but if you have any problems let us know.

I switch between the 2 quite happily, but you do have to set them both to rip to mp3 Windows Media Player prefers .wma and the default for iTunes is .mp4

Another easy ripper to use is Audiograbber.

There is a quick guide to installing and using it here. Ignore the bit at the end which says it will only rip half of the tracks at a time - this is a left-over from when it wasn't freeware.
