Hi everyone. I want to stop my Broadband service with BT and have been told that i will have to pay a £30 fee. I'm not transfering to another ISP i just want it stopped on my line. I am not tied into any sort of contract. They said it was a fee for doing something on the exchange.
Anyone got an ideas if this sounds right.

It's in their T&Cs.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Yup, its a cease fee - nearly all ISPs charge a fee if you cancel b/band rather than transfer to another supplier using a MAC. Its the "cost" of BT Openreach actually doing the engineering work at the exchange.0

AS above. If you use a MAC to transfer your broadband service to another ISP, then the cease charge will not apply. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
