First things first, Stop applying. Too many searches will show up as bad on you file.

I would say the first you need to do is find out if anything is wrong on your credit file and take it from there.

Then leave it a few months before any more applications
  • Yeah, I have stopped now.
I got a credit score from givemecredit and everything seems to be okay. Although Halifax seem to struggle to find my details when I opened a new account, despite me already have two accounts with them! None of the agents seem to understand why I was so difficult to find details for though!
  • According to a credit report I just got which took its details from call credit I am only registered on the electoral roll on my new address from 01/08/2011 whereas I have been putting down I've lived there since 01/05/2011 (my actual move in date.) could this be causing an issue, do you think?

You need to stop wasting your time and money with CallCredit* and givemecredit**, and get your statutory reports (£2 each) directly from Experian and Equifax.

Only then will you really see what the lenders are seeing when they search your credit file.

    * The least used credit reference agency.
** These reports are "simplified" (see condition 8), so do not give a true picture of your credit status.
  • Ah, I've only had free trials so far. I used call credit because when aqua declined they used them but I intend to get statutory reports from the other two. I think I can get a free trial for equifax too.
  • Thanks though! As you can probably (definatley) tell I am very much new to all this!
