Would a dealer match another new car price?
Hi all, Just looking for some advice... I was looking at getting a just-used car but the new prices on Buyacar.co.uk and elsewhere are actually cheaper than just-used, on some models I'm looking at (I think it's because there's a facelift out in Summer and they want to get rid of stock).
Anyway, I went into BMW dealer earlier and they quoted me about £10k more for a car I like with all options etc, yet on Buyacar.co.uk they are quoting 9k less for the exact same vehicle. Is it realistic to try to get BMW down to that price? Or will they tell me to jog on? Yes, I know 'you can only ask' etc; just wanted some input. There's also a brand new pre-reg one on eBay for a further £3k off...
Broadspeed and autoebid are quoting slightly more than buyacar.co.uk but have better reviews, Buyacar.co.uk seem a bit iffy.

Broadspeed are part of the Inchcape group, so deal with them and you will be dealing with their BMW franchise directly.
Ask your local dealer to pricematch otherwise you will buy from Broadspeed.
You should be able to get an easy 8%+ off most new BMWs, but also look for finance contributions from BMW and 'complementary' specification upgrades.
Also, bear in mind at that price there may well be better PCP based deals / leasing options that will cost you less than 'owning' the vehicle over a set period of time. After all, why put so much of your own hard earned into a depreciating asset?
Oh, and worst 'Im going to buy a £60K BMW' thread ever!0 -
Are you sure that Broadspeed are part of Inchcape? I am sure you're right, but it seems like a one-man band on past experience.
I did do some calculations on PCP, I'd be £200 /month worse off over 2 years, I figured out, versus buying."The only man who makes money from a gold rush is the one selling the shovels..."0 -
Prestige cars generally are harder to nip as a straightforward sale at the showroom, but most generally deal with agents and brokers and if you try a few, you might find the car you want, supplied at a decent discount, from one of the glass and chrome palaces who said, "no discount"!0

Why are you spending such a huge sum on a car when you have only had your business up an running for a few years and you are also in the process of buying a new house?
In five minutes time you will have kids and school fees etc. Build a solid base and then buy the car.0 -

Surely you'd just buy the pre-reg one that's on eBay?0

Inchcape certainly connected to Broadspeed - may not be owned but we used to shift hundreds of cars through there as all broadspeed enquiries came directly through to the dealer to handle.
Most dealers will try and match the deal but make sure its a fair comparison. Broadspeed is via a main dealer and car will be unregistered but many online offers either dont exist or are chancers trying to make money by touting your deal round to dealers. Also check whether delivery is included, as that can add a few hundred quid. My favorite line from one ad was 'for your convenience we will preregister the car to ensure you can have it on time'. or more accurately 'its a second hand car'.0 -

Are you a qualified financial advisor? Glad I piqued your interest that you felt the need to go through years of my posts, but yet, you know nothing of my financial situation, how much I earn, if I have children etc. Please you keep your nose out of other people's business.Surely you'd just buy the pre-reg one that's on eBay?Inchcape certainly connected to Broadspeed - may not be owned but we used to shift hundreds of cars through there as all broadspeed enquiries came directly through to the dealer to handle."The only man who makes money from a gold rush is the one selling the shovels..."0 -

When your business is all over the Internet then it's a bit rich spouting that comment to other people.Mortgage free

Just go through Broadspeed then.
I had little success trying to get dealers to match a quote from Arnold Clark for my new car and there was £1000 difference (albeit on a £6k car, not £60k)0
