Sky Anytime without Sky broadband

I thought Sky Anytime was recieved through the internet and required Sky broadband subscription, but my box is not connected to the internet and also I don't have Sky broadband and programmes are slowly being populated. Are the programmes coming down the satallite????

In addition, I have heard that Sky will be allowing you to connect any ISP's braodband to the box arouns Easter this year - has anybody seen any official announcements?

If so, my router is in another room, what equipment would I need to connect the box wirelessly?

Thanks

You cannot easily wirelessly ;), but use Homeplugs which use your power sockets. OH and I saw something about that in today's Micro mart

Sky Anytime + is downloaded mostly from the internet, and until April requires a Sky Broadband subscription. After that date any broadband ISP will do. It is then that Sky will have the BBC iplayer on the Sky+HD box.

Anytime still downloads a selection of programmes to the reserved part of your HDD.

So If you just get a list of Anytime programmes they have come from the satellite, if you have thumbnails then you have Anytime +and programmes are coming over the net.

Unless you have unlimited data on your internet plan, you do not want to hook your Sky box up to the internet. Anytime Plus can whack through data at an unbelievable amount.

Thanks for the warning, I have Virgin, so that should be ok? Their doubling the speed, so should help.

Is Anytime+ any good? Is it worth the hassle of purchsing and setting up the plugs?

I've got Sky tv and Sky BB and tbh I find the odd programme on anytime+ is of interest of the ones they push to you, but most aren't:)

As for the rest of the stuff on there, most I have found is pay per view which I'm not interested in either as I pay enough money to Sky without having to pay anymore money just to watch repeats:)

Personally I would prefer if you could opt out of anytime+ and be allowed the full use of the HDD in my Sky+HD box, rather than only be allowed the use of half of it.

I've used the Virgin TV catch up service, which was full of programs and very useful if you missed something. BBC, ITV, C4, C5. But that was on demand streamed down the cable, rather than pushed and downloaded to the box HD.

Presuming its not as comprehensive? Is there a listings of whats on there or anyway of seeing if it's worth the effort?

    Anytime+ listings http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/anytime-plus/whats-on/

There are no listings for Anytime anymore as far as I know. The only thing I find reliable are the new movie premieres which turn up every Friday.

Anyone know whether a phone line connection is still required if buying a movie via Anytime+ ?

(I realise you need a broadband connection to get the Anytime+ service but wondered if the ordering of movies is done in the same old way that ordering a PPV movie is)

    From http://www.sky.com/helpcentre/tv/sky-store/index.html

"to rent a movie from Sky Box Office or Sky Store you need to have your phone line connected to your Sky box, even if you have Sky Anytime+ and your box is connected to your broadband."
