no bills for gas and elec!!
i have lived in my new house for 5 years, and in that time only had one bill which was addressed to the plot number and the builder.
i rang the gas company and asked what to do as it was not in my name. they told me to forward it to the builders and so i did.
i have heard nothing since!
i am thinking of moving house in the near future and wonder what the implications of this are.
and what should i do?!!
thanks
molly

Could be opening a big can of worms?????
i think utilities companies can back date bills for two years or so from when they discover it. If you decided to sell your house, this could bring alot of attention to your gas & electric as the new owners will be reconnecting services etc0 -

The problem is, the gas co could be sending bills, but if the builder has not provided them with the correct postal address, they may not be reaching you.
The best solution is to call Xoserve on 08706081524 with your meter serial number to ask them who your supplier is. However as it is a new build there is a good chance they would not be able to tell you, in which case look at your meter and see if it says who installed it (GTC, Independant Pipelines, etc) and call them. Otherwise try asking your neighbours as they might know!
For electricity call your local MPAS service (again with your serial no). For more info see here.
If you are moving soon it is particularly important to sort out as if you leave and the new occupier sorts the accounts out, the power co will be chasing you for a bill you may not know about, which could end up going to a debt collection agency.0 -
for your reply tripled.
ive looked at the meters and they both have scotpower on them.
should i contact scotpower?
and what will happen when i do get a bill?!
thanks again molly0 -
As far as I`m aware, they can only make you pay 2 years worth. If they can prove how much you`ve used of course:money:0

Not sure who you need to call for gas then, it used to be SP Power systems but I have a feeling they were sold recently, perhaps to GTC or Independant Pipelines.
There's no guarantee the company that installed the meters is the supplier, but it may be worth giving them a bell as when a power company owns the meter they often are.0
