Anyone participated in clinical trials?

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone has done/or considered doing a clinical trial to earn extra money?

Nope, but sounds seriously cool though... allways wanted to do it and hope it has some side effects and i end up being like spiderman or a genius.
  • haven't myself, but a friend made a fortune doing them to help pay for his masters. didn't have any bad reactions, but i guess it will depend on what the trial is.

  • Well, so far, there have been no spiderman/genius side effects for me (shame). I have done a few and wondered if there were any other students that have done any to earn good money.

You can make quite a fortune-my last trial paid £900 for 4 nights! Only tested paracetomol and ibuprofen.

Our medical school warn us against taking part in clinical trials - we have to get written express permission from the Dean in order to do so...

I might be missing something here, but isn't it your body and your choice? If my uni told me that I couldn't go and do a clinical trial, I'd tell them where to shove it!!
