Help funding Online Distance Learning Course

Hi I am a newbie.
I am a lone parent with two young children on Income Support. I have been out of work for the last 6 years as I wanted to take care of my children during their early years. Now my youngest child aged 3 has just gone into nursery part time I believe this is an excellent opportunity for me to re-train as I do not want to go back into clerical work. I particularly enjoy Garden Design (have done a few projects of my own) and wish to undertake an Online Distance Learning Course in Garden Design and Landscaping. After searching many organisations I have found the most suitable course for me which would enable me to start up my own business in this field, something I am very interested in. It is a fully accredited course offering a Diploma on completion.
Having sourced the course, I am finding it difficult, if not impossible, to fund the course as, because it is an Online Learning Organisation through a private provider it is not funded by the Government (this is the advice that I was given over the telephone from Next Steps). They advised me I could get a Student Lone but I fear I cannot do that as my credit rating is very poor. I have looked on Student Cash Point at various Charitable organisations however I do not appear to fit the criteria for the suggestions that were brought up. Also at my last Lone Parent Advisors meeting I mentioned my desire to do this and whilst she said I would be required to take a course there was no mention of any funding that would be available to me to help me do this. The Bank of Mum and Dad is a luxury that I do not have so asking them for help is out of the question. I have even written to my local MP (who has not personally responded to me once) to see if she can shed any light on this matter, or at least point me in the right direction.
I am running out of steam on this one. I have searched everything I can think of. I just want to know if I am missing something. If anyone has any advice/information as to where else I can search I would be very grateful.
Thank you.
