    Sorry, my fault, assumed from your first post that they had suggested this.

    Of course they cannot involve the police. Not even your local council, who issue kosher parking fines, can involve the police. So don't worry about that aspect, just ignore them totally.

    Just an aside, is this a fair and legitmate use of CCTV?

    You could make a SAR for the footage if you want something to do.

    I have the feeling the OP is a bit approximate about these things. They probably said photographic evidence, i.e. ANPR camera, and she has read it as CCTV.

    Alternatively, as its NCP, the car park was probably owned by them, so they would, I think, be entitled to use their own CCTV system. That is what it's there for. It is someone else's CCTV that couldn't be used.

    And fair and legitimate use? Tell that to local concils who spy on every move you make so they can send you a PCN.......
