It might just be an old installation of windows that's the issue, has windows been installed for 3 years as well? I don't think I've ever managed to keep an install going that long! Do you run defrag and scandisk?0

I know I have used ghost and drive image for years but the process of createing the image (reading the drive) could be the final straw, I would copy the docs/pictures first then if you want all the software etc to go over then do the imageing thing. the other thing is that imageing a failing drive is very hit and miss it doesnt always work.0 -
Threadstarter could perhaps run S.M.A.R.T. diagnostics. OP is a bit vague on symptoms other than PC running slow. Could be a myriad of other causes.
