Broadcasting Network Name?

Hi when I 'untick broadcast Service Name' within configurations of my router how do I still connect via my laptop.
What do I need to redo on the laptop? When its ticked no problems, & connects to the home network.
I am still new with going wireless, just thought for safety reasons would be the the best option?
Thx

You'd have to enter the SSID and wireless key manually.
I see no great risk in broadcasting your SSID, as long as you don't do what some people around here do and give it a name that identifies the property (e.g. don't call it 'the Smith family of Acacia Avenue!).No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

In my experience, once you've connected Windows based systems with the password and told it to reconnect automatically, it will do that even if the SSID is not broadcast. However, with iPhones, they will only reconnect automatically if the SSID is broadcast. If it's not broadcast, they have to provide the SSID and password every time they want to connect.

The SSID can be easily determined from traffic broadcast from a network where it's supposedly hidden. WPA and WPA2 encryption may well keep out all but the most persistent of hackers, but hiding the SSID won't really improve security.0
