It's similar - based on the original US format, The People's Court, which has been running in the states for 20yrs, so it actually pre-dates Judge Judy!

is this a joke? I really hope so. If not then I think I've been kidding myself over how base our society has become.

these all seem like items that can be dealt with by a) insurance compaines (car damage) b) parents asserting themselves (live at home son) c) choose future partners more carefully (do we really want to see more estranged couples battling it out on tv?) d) withhold deposit (flatmate refusing to pay rent)

we seem to have far to many shows already that create entertainment out of petty arguments, and generate polarised audiences in the process (seemingly it's not ok to have an opinion based on a compromise of views). Do we really need another one?

these are all just examples, the real cases will be much more entertaining - and it's as much based on the personalities involved. At the end of the day - if people want to do it appearing on TV - where's the harm? We're also looking at cases that have reached a stalemate situation - so it's not necessarily cases that could ordinarily be resolved elsewhere!
