Recommendations Please - M&S Credit Card or Tesco Clubcard Creditcard

Hi all,

We get married in 3 months and we need to pay the honeymoon in 1 months time which is costing £5.8k. We have the money in savings and would like to keep it there to earn interest on it for as long as possible. We are therefore looking at a 0% purchase card to allow us to stooze the savings for 15 months. Best cards I can find for 0% on purchases is Tescos and M&S both of which include rewards / points.

Would be interested to hear from people who already have these cards as to which benefits are best?

Thanks in advance.

I'd go for the Tesco card. The reward points are worth more as long as you don't spend them in Tesco (in Tesco they are worth 0.25%, but can be upto 1% in rewards).

If you do a lot of shopping at M&S, that card may be more worthwhile, as it'll give 1% back (0.5% elsewhere), but you can only spend them in store.

Excellent, thanks for taking the time to reply, that would make sense as well as I very rarely venture into M&S but do buy fuel and online shopping from tescos when they have offers on.

Applied for the Tesco's card, approved online, very simple form to fill out and awarded a £5.8k credit limit? Spooky - perhaps Tesco's read MSE?!!
  • Hi. Am looking at applying for the Tesco credit card but have a missed payment on a loan due to Barclays error. At the mo my credit rating is good rather than excellent until Barclays take off the missed payment. Do you know if you need an excellent rating to be accepted please?
    Thanks.

"good" and "excellent" are meaningless, if they are going to take it off soon then I would wait until they do that, especially since it's their fault.
