Plumbing a washing machine into the garage

We are hopefully moving to a house where the washing machine is currently in the kitchen. As we have a dishwasher we'd like to get the garage plumbed for the washing machine, which is the set up we have at the minute. Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much this would cost? Just a ballpark figure would be great - I haven't a clue if it would be £50 or £1000!! The garage is detached and about 5ft away from the house, beside the kitchen.
Thanks!
Thanks!

How would you get the cold water supply to the washing machine in the garage?
How would you avoid frost damage to the washing machine in the garage?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
The cost will be determined by the cost of getting both the power, cold water feed and waste to the new position. generally, the greater the distance, the higher the cost.
It's not the distance from the house that matters, it's the distance from the supplies.
It'll certainly be more than £50 though.
I really don't see the point if there is room for it in the kitchen? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
It's not just the supply of water and electric you need to think of, but the drains.
Unless you're going to start digging ditches and laying pipes yourself it's going to be a big expensive job. Can't you look for a dishwasher/washing machine that can sit on top of each other.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Is the temperature an issue as well? I thought about this during the recent cold spell as we have a w/m in our unheated utility room. The instruction manual for my w/m said not to be operated below 0c so as I have an expensive new Miele I put a heater in there set at the 'frost' setting. But lots of people do have w/ms in their garages etc. so may be I'm being over cautious?
From the manual:
Do not install your washing machine in rooms where temperatures
below freezing may occur.Frozen hoses may burst or split. The
reliability of the electronic control unit may be impaired at
temperatures below freezing point.0 -
Obviously there should not be any possibility of water freezing in the machine or supply pipework. Depends how cold your garage gets, keeping it above 5C all winter could be expensive. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Keeping it above freezing isn't too much of an issue for us due to it being an adjacent utility room (solid-built, next to heated main building) and us being in the south of England and I'm therefore not taking the risk of invalidating the warranty. But I do wonder what happens regarding waranties as obviously manufacturer-instructed repair people would see the exterior location.0
