Bank statements sufficient evidence?

Hi,
I had a car loan dating back to 1999 which was satisfied in 2002 with Renault however i do not have any paperwork or remember the car reg. I do have bank statements showing monthly payments to the car company. Is this sufficient evidence for me to start a claim i.e request all paperwork (T&C's). If so do i send a SAR with my statements as evidence?
Thanks
Andy
Just to note: I do remember being told that i needed PPI in order to qualify for the car loan.

Whilst it may help identify the loan, if Renault finance are saying they no longer hold details then it wont help. They cant find what they dont have. You could put the SAR in to make sure that is the case.Just to note: I do remember being told that i needed PPI in order to qualify for the car loan.
Which is the weakest complaint reason going. If they say "no we didnt" then the complaint is deadlocked and easy to reject. Very few are upheld with that reason. You normally need something stronger than that.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. 1999 is pre-regulation anyway, so a complaint seems most unlikely to succeed.0
