Could not open Windows Media Player. Uninstalled it and reinstalled. Will not open. It is not a program that I use very often. What's the problem?

How did you reinstall?
Use VLC, KMPlayer or Media Player Classic
Windows Media Player lacks format support and has a crappy interface, but rarely is it preferable over simpler video players like VLC and KMPlayer.0 -
First off which Operating System and which version of media player are you trying to install? Does it match this table?
I suggest uninstalling with the free version of Revo uninstaller. then a clean install using the correct version.
I've been using WMP for years without any grief to look after my MP3 library - Syncs to Creative Zen no problem, so I haven't bothered with anything else. Library problems can be avoided my having an ordered file structure Music\artist\album\songs. I drag and drop new music into the file structure then update the library from within WMP
m5rcc: But I do use VLC for the odd video that WMP can't handle.0 -
Thanks for the help. I have Windows XP and want the player for adding music to my Sansa Clip Plus. I will uninstall it again and try another version of Windows Media Player.0

I thought the Sansa clip plus was drag and drop from within Windows - so you shouldn't need WMP.

I didnt think you can uninstall Windows Media Player as it is part of the basic installation of Windows.I think you can try a older version.
m5rcc above is spot on when they say its not very good anyway.
Try this click on run and paste this on as its wrote sfc /scannow then press ok and it will repair Windows files ,0 -
Thanks everybody. Think I will dump Windows Media Player.0
