Why would they? The Queen owns all the land in the Uk, Aus, Canada, NZ etc. I don't think she has a claim to other assets though.0 -
I'd fully expect to receive no less than 3 carrier pigeons on my window ledge the day after the 'mega blow up'.
Why a full day delay? Well, it takes a pigeon a long time to fly from Nigeria to the UK.
Unravelling the tag on each pigeon would reveal a note similar to the following :
"Dear Sir/Madam/President
I am shocked totally at the computer collapse. My client - Princess Polleee Toynbee-Mudalla - is in desperate need to move her considerable bars of gold to a safe haven in the Orkney Isles; and we have identified your shed as an ideal drop zone.
Please send several hundred £20 notes tied to the pigeons legs. This is necessary to buy them enough pigeon food here to carry the bullion to you.
Your urgent attentions is appreciated."
... anyone got a good recipe for pigeon pie?

I'd just sign on, develop an anxiety order to get extra benefits and rent a 1-bed flat... with a master plan of never working again because it turned out to not be worth it and I was sold a pup.0

Lots of people would be removed from their homes by people who are capable of a higher level of violence.
I would just go and build a house on some of the queens land and say it was always there.
The queens land:rotfl:.
The queen owns some of a planet hurtling through space:rotfl:0 -

What would be the 'fairest' or 'best' way to resolve the situation?
I'm sure a fair way - acceptable to the majority of British people - would be suggested almost immediately.
It would then go before Parliament, who would ignore the wishes of the British public, and it would be debated, changed, compromised and generally messed around with until it was unrecognisable as the original concept.
It would then proceed to the House of Lords where a bunch of unelected old duffers would further tinker with the solution.
After around 10 years, it would finally become law after dozens of frivolous legal challenges by the usual bunch of self interest minority groups.
The only likely outcome after all this, will be that those who had previously contributed the least to society will emerge as the biggest winners.
In fact, it will make very little change to our society at all.Nothing is foolproof, as fools are so ingenious!
