Hope you are all OK, and entering comps...just had a WEM,:j won a pair of shoes:D....lol...bought 2 pairs on Monday....worth £50 so better than a poke in the eye....time spent comping is well worth while peeps, especially for those of us not into Wombling and APG's....
Tennis for me now,:):) 2 excellent matches to watch......:):)
Postie just delivered my £10 Morrisons voucher....0 -
Thinking of you SnD
And hugs for everyone needing them today....
Apols for my absence....but Wimbledon is keeping me glued to my seat most of the time.....had a day off yesterday and used up £135 of my Buyagift win to take my granddaughter to Wedgwood for the De-luxe Experience Day...and it was FANTASTIC...We were greeted warmly , given badges and then taken for coffee and shortbread...20 mins film show, browsed the shop, then taken by minibus to the factory for a guided factory tour, which was amazing...then back for 3 course lunch at 1pm....presented with a gift bag each containing a fab Wedgwood cameo, mine on a gold chain , granddaughters on a silver chain, also got a lovely Jasper ware tray each, gift wrapped and tied with red silk ribbon....then to the demonstration area....we both made a vase, it was great fun , the vases will be fired and posted to us ...then we saw all their artisans at work.A bloke was making ' Pandora' style beads from Jasper ware, I had so much fun choosing one , but alas it didn't fit where I wanted it to,such a performance taking the beads and charms off each time trying to make one fit, then decided to have 2 and put one at each end....difficult to explain but it involved the bloke making them and the young lad off the till, all faffing about with my bracelet....in the end they presented me with 2 for free, for making them laugh so much......and another bloke who came over and asked me to come again on another wet day so they could have more laughs...if you saw what he was making and heard the comments I'd made( which were soooo rude....as he was moulding clay into 7 inch long 2 inch in diameter cylinders and his hands were going in an up and down motion as the potter wheel was turning......)these cylinders were then fired and the bead making bloke used a lathe to reduce them to make beads of all shapes and sizes....it was absolutely fascinating, then off to the museum, which is superb......got there at 10.15am and left just after 4pm....truly a 'Grand Day Out' as Wallace would say......the gifts were valued at over £200( we saw them on sale in the shop) so how on earth you get them in the package I do not know...highly receommed it to you peeps....still got more days out planned with the Buyagift vouchers...Ironbridge year pass and having Champagne Afternoon Tea at the Rutland Arms on Bakewell....and ordering 2 x Curry Club m/ships to give as Xmas presents....have really enjoyed this win.
Decided to do my Daily comps late last night and won on the Tetley comp....free Best of Both tea....nice end to an excellent day.......def feet up today though and watching women's semi finals....will try and catch up on posts....
Oooh, that sounds fab Bully! It's so interesting watching real craftsmen at work. Really admire their talent. I made a pottery mug at school once. I'm quite proud of it but the sight of it sends DH and DDs into peels of laughter!0 -
MT, thanks for your kind words
SnD, Your strength is admirable, just please make some time for yourself, I know how you can be so busy being busy you make little time for you to reflect. I am so relieved you found the best in yesterday, big hugs x
BS, reading your pottery post, there was a brief moment when I thought Id found "fifty shades of grey" on my screen with all your talk of moulding, hands running up and down 7" of..." I had to get a grip, lol.
Well, I have some news to post - about which I should be disappointed for all the right reasons but I am actually overwhelmingly ecstatic for all the wrong reasons. DD2 - my baby - is having a baby! The practicalities are a mystery! Her fiance is in the Army and due to leave for Afghan in September, returning in March. Baby is due in Feb. No one but me and DH are happy for them. I am wondering how we will cope, we are overcrowded as it is, now we have to make room for a baby - a baby, OMG, a baby! She has only been in her new job for 6 months and had promotion prospects; its all so not how its supposed to be. Full of what ifs and fretting. The first thing I could say to her was Well, you'll have to tidy that pigsty of what once resembled a bedroom otherwise you'll never find your baby. Her father (affectionately known as "the a*se" and premium member of the CSA avoidance Tw*t club) who never stood by me in all her 19 years is sure to be unimpressed.
Im stunned - and dare I say it - almost - wordless...
Im gonna be a nanna - argh!!!!!!!!!! It kind of chrystalises the truth - Im 48, fatter than Im happy with ( have used grief as an excuse to stuff my face and to numb my pain, (why of why does chocolate (if you eat enough of it, lol) send you into a dull stupor where all is hazily perfect). I have to take inspiration from this knock-me-off-my-feet news and get healthy, Im knocking on last chance saloon's door. No more "Ill wait til Monday", Im digging my slimming world books out... DD2, armed with flowers has spent time with Chloe this morning and told her the news. I am sure she already knew...Love, through the trees, past the sky, beyond the northern lights; and I won't let go. May your soul and spirt fly sweetheart x
My alphabet-girls are with me every step of the way x0 -
congrats nanny MAGs
shock it maybe but you sound happy:D
shame about her job but as long as she & fiance are happy
and you are too then i'd not worry to much about other people, what will be will be.
look like shes going to be early though, would be a shame if her BF missed the birth.
could she not start asking the council for housing help to help with overcrowding
better start collecting baby coupons & APG wombles for baby stuff:D
you sound as if you have a wonderful DD2 too. i'm sure chloe would have been pleased for her sister too.0 -
wow MAG how exciting for you, no doubt some stressful times ahead but no doubt much joy along the way.Really pleased for you all.

Congrats nanny mags!!!!! It may not be perfect timing but I'm not sure there ever is such a thing with babies. As long as they are well loved it doesn't matter who gives it the cuddles (nana cuddles are extra special). Best start keeping on the look out for baby mocs now and getting those huggie starter boxes lol.
Good luck to you and your dd0
