Living Areas Advice in South Leeds

I have just accepted a post working for Joesph Priestly and will be spread between 3 colleges - Rothwell, Morley and Beeston.
I had been looking at properties in west Leeds (Farsley / Pudsey), but with this job offer, it does make more sense to move closer to work, not further away.
Does anyone have any advice of where in southern Leeds would be a good place to buy (c£130,000), within walking access to a good primary school?
Any suggestions would be great - or even places to avoid. :rotfl:
Thanks
Marie

Rothwell isnt a bad area, and Methley is lovely, but you probably wouldnt get much for your £130,000.0

Rothwell is lovely. I grew up there. :-)
Only moved away to be near the sea otherwise would still be there.
Look out towards methley or the otherway, up towards Carlton (my primary school was there and was (may still be) excellent - but that was 16 years ago i went there) and Lofthouse.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
Thank you everyone for your tips.
I have seen the review for Rothwell's Victoria Junior School, which has a fab review. However it is for 7-11 kids, so which school would they go to before then?
Cheers

There are some nice enclaves in Wortley and Armley, but you have to be a bit careful. However it may mean less expensive.
They are handy for Beeston and Morley, not so much for Rothwell. Will you be using public transport?
(btw Lower Wortley Primary School has some superb reviews, but some of the catchment area is extremely iffy)Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
I would like to say ty for everyone's responses.
We have now put in an offer for an old house in Robin Hood, near Rothwell. So fingers crossed things will proceed smoothly and quickly.
