Oh dear! I bought a 4.5l slow cooker today from Morrisons for £17. I'm a bit worried now though as I live alone. I think I should be ok though as I was thinking of cooking a full load over a Saturday night and containering (I think I just made that word up) it up and freezing most of it.
I am hoping it will save a few bob on my electric bill and lunch at work bill too. I'm hoping it will pay for itself within a month.
4.5 litres! lol
Must do some more research before my first attempt this coming weekend.
Nipping over to the "In My Slow Cooker Today...." thread now. Thanks for the link kind poster.
4.5 litres!!!

Don't worry, you wont regret it ! As long as it's just over half full it will be fine, if you're cooking smaller amounts, don't leave it on for too long, adjust the cooking times. For the first few times, use it whilst you're at home. I think mine is a 4.5l one, theres just me and my daughter, whatever is left i freeze.0 -
Everything I made fell under the category of 'brown stew' for DH which was really a fair enough observation
I chucked out my slow cooker for that very reason.... oh and the fact that everything came out tasting the same.
Never thought about cooking a chicken in it though. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

You did try changing the ingredients and using different recipes?
Within the last week we have cooked a beef pot roast, Hungarian goulash and butter chicken in the low cooker. None of it tasted, or looked, remotely alike.0 -

There are some great US slow cooker recipes out there. I've had pasta bake in mine, risotto, chicken satay as well as stews, soups and curries. You can also adapt most oven recipes to go in the SC0 -
